Study with the
Join us for an exciting week of study and fun in Paris, the City of Lights. Work with renowned French artist members of the Quatuor Arpeggione in daily coached sessions. The Arpeggione has been acclaimed as one of the leading new ensembles in France, having been selected as laureates at the 1989 Evian Quartet Competition. They currently have a busy schedule of international tours, radio and television appearances, recordings and international music festival performances.
We will stay in the conference center La SEVE / Centre d'Accueil International, located in the elegant 16th Arrondissement (Metro Jasmin). Simple but very comfortable accommodations are in single or shared rooms, a few with private bath. Three meals a day are provided, along with organization of all musical events as part of the workshop. There will be much to sample of the sights of Paris, whether this is your first trip or your 50th. This season is a wonderful time to visit, when the arts calendar is again full, the weather is lovely and Paris can be seen in all its glory.
This week will be limited to string players, both amateur and professional, who have attained a fairly high level of proficiency in chamber music. Pre-formed groups are welcome to apply, as are individual players, and we will do our best to form compatible groups. Past participants in Musical Passages have come from a variety of countries and backgrounds, and we expect this to be the case again.
Instruction will be in both French and English. Notification of works to be prepared will be made at least 1 month prior to the workshop. Cello rental for people traveling from abroad can be arranged with sufficient notice. Participants should bring their own music stands and parts..
Musicians living in Paris may attend the workshop as commuters. Non-players are welcome to join us, space permitting, and will have a reduction of 1,200 FF.
