The Heart of Chamber Music

Beyond Upbow/Downbow

New England Conservatory presents The Heart of Chamber Music winter workshop
for string players and pianists January 6 - 8, 2001 with Triple Helix piano
trio.

The Heart of Chamber Music is an innovative program that addresses the
customary concerns of phrasing, intonation, fingering and bowing that
musicians always face; but through complementary classes in yoga, acting and
Alexander Technique, we direct our attention to the larger goal of
connecting with the music, each other and ourselves as we study a masterwork
of the literature. In this Winter workshop, we will include a yoga class
with musician/yoga teacher Deborah Dunham each afternoon.

This workshop is intended for pre-formed groups of at least intermediate
level, and individuals of intermediate to advanced ability who have previous
chamber music experience. The deadline for application is December 3, 2000.
The price of the workshop is $ 235 with a $25 registration fee for a total
of $260.

The faculty is drawn from the New England Conservatory.

Each day will include:
two hours of chamber music rehearsal
morning and afternoon 2-hour chamber music coaching sessions
