In addition to intensive one on one coaching by the Manhattan Quartet we will visit many sites pertinent to Debussy and his String Quartet. Plans as of now include a visit to Debussy's residence, a viewing of the actual manuscript of the Quartet and a concert by the Manhattan Quartet at the site of the premiere performance of Debussy's masterwork. We will also have interaction with French musicians and scholars to gain from their invaluable perspective on performance traditions and cultural influences.
The conference will be held at the La Seve conference center in the elegant 16th arrondissment of Paris. Accommodations and all meals will be available here at very affordable rates. And there are separate large rooms pervect for playing quartets!
